Fall Has Arrived in Florence

There is a lot of activity in the various fall craft and food markets around Florence this time of year. I went to one of the markets in Santo Spirito last week. The new olive oil has arrived, and I have ordered some delivered to the States. I buy mine from Daniele Tinti, who has an organic farm I visited last fall, which produces olive oil and also wine.

I visit the Mercato Sant’Amgrogio several times a week for fresh vegetables, cheese, etc. The meat counter is Kiki’s favorite place, because her friend there always gives her a meatball!

From the mercato, I go to the local enoteca that has vino sfuso. One brings empty bottles, and they are refilled from the large vats in the shop. It is organic wine and very good for only 4 euro per bottle. They also have a nice selection of appetizers that change with the season to eat at the little tables inside and out.

After a busy morning of shopping, Kiki likes to make a nest of pillows on the bed for a little nap!
